A new novel takes us back to 1986 Buddhist Era 2529 to corners of Thailand where electricity had yet to reach, and darkness still held dominion after sunset. It was a time when ghosts and wandering spirits revelled in their hauntings, as though the world after nightfall were an amusement park of their own.

Before the last few wisps of incense curl into nothing, BLUE HOUSE’s first novel will be ready to meet its readers. My wish is a modest one: that these first hundred copies find their way into the hands of those who love ghost stories and the shadowed realms of the imagination.

As its author, I shaped this novel from thirty-four drafts of a screenplay. Yet the language of cinema and the language of fiction are profoundly different in their artistry, their rhythms, and the ways they stir the heart. I gathered the passages and moments I loved, weaving them together until they became *Khok Phi Lok* What makes this book especially dear to me is the freedom to set upon the page those parts of the story that feel most truly my own.

There is only one thing I wish to tell you: everything I have truly wanted to say is here, within these 230 pages.

The paper may be white, but darkness will haunt you on every page.
